the heart and the mind

the mind can never understand

what the heart knows full well

because the heart seldom resorts to logic

which confuses the mind

the mind measures

and hates the immeasurable

the heart does not measure

and smiles at the immeasurable

we lose our health to make our wealth

we lose our wealth to regain our health

we live as if we will never die

we die as if we never lived

we are so busy with daily tasks

yet we are so bored in being so busy

we look for meaning in meaningless things

and overlook things fraught with meaning

we have no time for others

yet we waste our time in absurd undertakings

there are times

when not planning

is the best plan

when whispering is

more easily heard than shouting

there are times

when gentleness

is more forceful than force

when blindness

can make you see

when the wisdom of a child

is deeper than that of a sage

when sitting in darkness

can induce meditation

when sickness

can make you strong

and pain

can make you resolute

prayer makes you divine

when you pray while in pain

your spirit grows strong

until you can withstand

the greatest pain ever

pain is thus a form of prayer

pain and prayer are the way the Lord

molds you into His image

it is never an accident

there are God-sent angels

all around doing the ground work

they have band-aids ready when we stumble

the final ingredient is simply

our freewill to embrace God’s will

together they are invincible

we act not so much for our own sake

but more for the chaotic world we need to serve

that we may cook up a breeze

to stop the raging storm

a touch of gentleness to weaken the hatred

to render sages confused

by smiles of school children

CRACKPOTS ARE CREATIVE

-

once in ancient china

a woman carried two pots

to fetch water from a distant well

-

one of the pots was cracked and leaked

so that by the time she got home

the cracked pot yielded only half

-

for a year the woman did this daily

the better pot complained

and asked that the cracked pot to be replaced

-

the cracked pot pleaded

for the woman to spare her

and she did for a reason

-

she pointed out that one side of the road

from the well to her house

was full of beautiful flowers

-

that was because she placed flowering plants

on that side so that the cracked pot’s leak

could water them

-

she told the pots that

her house is now full of flowers which

made her and all who saw them so happy

-

she said the cracked pot was a better one

for bringing happiness to a world

which was becoming sadder and sadder

-

cracks within us

somehow have spiritual value

if we just try to discover their purpose

God gave us cracks in places

and made us whole in places

for a purpose not easy to understand

we see God punishing Man for his sins

the flood, sodom and gomorrha

and rewarding him for his devotion

the exodus, david and goliath

victories over the midianites

and the philistines

why did God permit

in babylon yesterday and new york today?t

the arrogance of Man that we do not need Him

why is mexico the center of the swine flu?

is it because this christian country

so loved by our Lady of guadalupe

went astray and legalized abortion

and now has a powerful drug cartel?

legalized abortion is legalized murder

as one of the major ultimate causes

of future global cataclysms

if sin can cause disasters

then prayers can atone for sins

and dispel disasters

with the power of prayer today

we can reverse disasters

that God is planning for us

it is not too late

we can fight global warming

and super-hurricanes two ways

with science and with prayer

our sophisticated early warning systems

for earthquakes and tsunamis

are useless if we keep on ignoring God

UNIVERSAL HEALTH PRIMER

we read so many materials

on how to stay healthy

prolong life and avoid sickness

especially cancer, the number one killer

-

most of these materials say the same

basic simple universal lessons on health

they stare at us so intensely

yet we simply take them for granted

-

they are so easy to do

all we need is to form a habit

not just doing it for a week

we have to ingrain it into our lives

-

IN VERY SIMPLE TERMS

THE BASIC HEALTH HABITS ARE –

-

HAVE PLENTY OF –

regular sleep and rest, exercise

mineral water, fresh pure fruit juice

fruits and vegetables, especially leafy

organic food, natural food

home cooked food

if you eat these, you do not need

expensive vitamin capsules

or ‘fibers’ and other scientific sounding terms

concocted by pharmaceuticals

-

AVOID TOO MUCH –

sleeplessness, salt, suger, starch (the 4 S’s)

lethargy, idleness, inactivity

fats and oil, fried food, meat

alcohol, non-organic or chemical food

processed food, restaurant food

fried using over-recycled oil

food in heated plastic

SPIRITUAL THINGS CAN

TRIGGER PHYSICAL AILMENTS

AND VICE VERSA

WE ARE BOTH BODY AND SOUL

DEVELOP POSITIVE EMOTIONS –

happiness, humor, love

good relationships, forgiveness

goodwill, giving-sharing, humility

peace, serenity, ambition

prayer and meditation

AVOID NEGATIVE EMOTIONS –

nervousness, tension, depression

hatred, vengeance, bitterness,

jealousy, quarrels, bad relationships

malice, selfishness, egoism, indifference

COMMON FOOD WITH HEALING POWERS –

garlic, ampalaya, malunggay, honey

ginger, fish oil, virgin fruit or seed oil

preferably in unprocessed raw form

but cleaned with hot water

healing story

-

ruby is a housemaid

who had no opportunity to go to school

she has an eight year old daughter jennifer

who has a congenital hole in her heart

jennifer becomes tired and catches her breath

after walking only three steps

she often palpitates and is always inactive

-

at the heart center, the doctor says

ruby has to raise 250,000 pesos

for an operation

ruby bows her head

and walks away in tears

hearing about sister raquel

they visit her at the novaliches healing center

sister touches the child

who complains that her hands are so hot
